TERMS OF REFERENCE Social Media Internship for The Asia Foundation’s Social Cohesion and Community Dialogue Unit Duration: April 01, 2022 – June 30, 2022 Level of Effort: 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day 1. Rationale The Asia Foundation currently hosts several social media platforms (including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram) to assist the regular dissemination of content pertaining to its recent project campaigns developed under the Social Cohesion and Community Dialogue unit on the themes of values education, economic development and intergenerational dialogue through arts. The Social Media Intern will have an academic background in International Relations and/or Communication and previous experience in IT (Information Technology) and social media with an excellent command of Sinhala and/or Tamil, and a fair understanding of English language. The following skills would be beneficial; excellent verbal communication, proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Canva, demonstrated ability to create social media or in-app messaging assets, a natural collaborator and team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills. The position would be initially for a period of three months with the possibility of renewal for a further three months. 2. Objective The objective of the internship is to support the Social Cohesion and Community Dialogue team in the development and dissemination of content via the Foundation’s social media platforms pertaining to the following projects: Values4All, Our Stories and INSPIRED. 3. Scope of work Under this activity, the scope of work will be to manage all social media related tasks and support the conceptualization and implementation of social media strategies under the supervision and guidance of project staff. 4. Deliverables and proposed timeline In line with the above scope of work, the accomplishment of the following deliverables will be required to be completed: • Create bi-weekly dissemination plans for social media platforms related to all three projects • Research and develop timely, concise, innovative and creative content relevant to each social media platform • Perform research related to project themes (social cohesion, values-based education, intergenerational dialogue, art-based civic engagement, and economic development) as assigned by the team • Develop a monitoring matrix and compile monthly reports to evaluate engagements related to each campaign among targeted audiences. • Interact with followers, when necessary, by communicating and answering queries through the Foundation’s social media pages, with prior approval from the project team • Any other tasks and work responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time 5. Responsibilities and coordination During implementation of the aforementioned responsibilities, the intern will be under the guidance of the Senior Program Manager, Social Cohesion and Community Dialogue, and will closely work with the Foundation’s Consultant – Communications and Reporting.
